    En los años 70s, cuando ABBA y los Bee Gees eran las bandas del momento, la influencia comunista crecía; aún no llegaban la caída del muro del Berlín, ni la Perestroika. La Unión Soviética necesitaba una cámara económica, accesible para todo aquel que desease tomar fotografías: estudiantes, obreros, campesinos. Tenía que ser de fácil construcción, de materiales baratos y resistentes. A la vez, tenía que tener una óptica de calidad, que demostrase la pericia de los técnicos soviéticos aún en los productos de poco precio. Así surgió la Smena 8M: una cámara para el pueblo de sorprendente calidad.

    I want to thank BKSpictures for turning me onto a great site. Starting to get experimental with black and white. Found developing times to push Tri-X 400 up to 3200 Iso. I had some luck in low light and Macro. Only a few shots didn't come out. Then there were a few I was asked not to post ;)

    Here's an album of doubles that I did with the amazing lomographer russheath. If you haven't been to his home you really should check it out: http://www.lomography.com/homes/russheath He shot Lomography Redscale XR 50-200 at Roxborough State Park in Colorado and I shot it in Los Angeles and San Diego, California using a Cosina CX-2. Thanks to russheath for sharing the experience with me!
